Few clubs in Scotland work harder at including Para athletes – and integrating training and competition opportunities – than Perth Strathtay Harriers.
That was reflected three years ago when they became our first winners of the Janice Eaglesham Para Development Club of the Year, when the award was set-up in 2020.
President and coach Jim Hunter has since been rewarded for his huge contribution via the Honours system – and he also landed a UK Coaching Lifetime Achievement award in November.
Now Perth Strathtay have created a great short video to showcase their approach and demonstrate exactly how they seek to ensure everyone feels part of the club.
*The club would like to thank Scott at ‘Weeflee’ for producing the promotional video.

Fab day at the Emirates for the @SSAAschools indoor champs. The first para race included in the event, with 5 athletes competing in a mixed classification race

Inclusive athletics was in evident, too, at the Scottish Schools Indoor Track and Field Champs recently.
For the first time the event at the Emirates Arena hosted a Para event with five athletes competing across a combined classification.
As Pamela Robson, our National Disability Pathway Officer noted, it was great to see this in terms of ‘ground-breaking’ for the Scottish Scools and hopefully opening the door to further Para competition opportunities in the future.
