Nick Percy has been added to the GB and NI team for the World Championships in Oregon.
The discus thrower, who broke the Scottish Record again over the weekend with a throw of 65.00m, has been added after consideration of the World Rankings.
British Athletics had pledged to assess those within the top 32 in the global rankings and our understanding is that Nick was inside the top 20 following his gold success at the Muller British Champs – and that landmark throw.
Nick’s inclusion takes to 11 the Scottish representation on the team who will compete in Eugene, Oregon, in a couple of weeks.
There were a number of other British additions, too, and the team size could yet reach 78 athletes.
Congratulations to Nick, his family and coach Zane Duquemin on the Oregon selection.

UK Athletics have confirmed Stephen Maguire has been appointed to the role of Technical Director and will be returning to the organisation from September.
The appointment will see Maguire assume leadership responsibility for oversight of the World Class Performance programme and be responsible for ensuring the new direction, including raising levels of support and engagement with athletes as UKA moves towards Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028.
Stephen will return to UKA after a gap of almost two years where he headed up sprints and relays and will commence his new role in September.
‘We are pleased to confirm this key appointment in a position that is vital for the support of athletes and personal coaches,’ said Mark Munro, interim CEO for UKA.
‘The appointment of the Technical Director role is one we are delighted with and feel gives us the best person to lead the programme towards Paris and Los Angeles.
‘We were mindful of ensuring we could make progress as soon as this summer’s championships concluded, and it is a significant boost for the World Class Programme that we can confirm his appointment now ahead of a September start.
‘Stephen brings great experience and an excellent track record within high performance athletics.’
