National Coach Development Programme – roadshows & workshops

Coach Development

At the end of last month scottishathletics launched the new National Coach Development Programme at the National Coaching Conference.

Roadshows

As part of the programme, we are hosting a series of roadshows across the country to give coaches and clubs the opportunity to find out more about the programme, and how it can benefit them.

The confirmed details are as follows:
4 November – Emirates Arena, Glasgow – 7pm to 8pm
11 November – South Gyle, Edinburgh – 7pm to 8pm
18 November – Grangemouth – 6.30pm to 7.30pm
25 November – Inverness College – 7pm to 8pm – (will be broadcast via video conference to the Islands)
2 December – Aberdeen Sports Village – 7.45pm to 9pm

These are open to all scottishathletics coaches at all levels and are FREE.

Courses and workshops

As part of the new programme scottishathletics are pleased to confirm the following courses:

Foundation Course (Limited spaces available) 24/25 October 2015 – Emirates Arena, Glasgow
Introduction to foundation movements that underpin athletic activity, and how to develop them in the club/coach environment, through warm ups and in-session activities.
£30 for scottishathletics Coach Members
(This course will soon be known at Athletics Development and Physical Preparation I)

Technical Development I
Practical introduction to technical development for coaches with athletes in the fundamental skill development phase. This workshop is specifically design for anyone who has completed the Coaching Assistant Award (or previous level 1 course) or for those working towards or have completed the Athletics Coach Award (or previous level 2 courses), who are looking for an introduction to coaching the events.

The dates and venues for each of the technical development workshops are as follows:
21 November – 9.30am to 4pm
Sprints & hurdles – Grangemouth
Throws – Grangemouth
Endurance – Kilmarnock (Ayrshire Athletics Arena)

22 November – 9.30am to 4pm
Jumps – Grangemouth
Endurance – Grangemouth
Sprints & hurdles – Kilmarnock (Ayrshire Athletics Arena)

28 November – 9.30am to 4pm
Jumps – Ravenscraig (venue (TBC)
Throws – Ravenscraig (venue TBC)

The technical workshops costs £20 for scottishathletics Coach Members per session.
