Scotland will send teams to the TCS London Mini Marathon

Saturday 23rd July 2022

Mini Marathon flashback . . . with Laura Muir and Jake Wightman. Whatever happened to those two?

The TCS London Mini Marathon will be taking place on Saturday 1 October, and once again scottishathletics are making plans to send Scotland teams.

This race is one of the highlights of the season for young athletes and has been an important part of the development for many of our current Senior international athletes.

In fact, all seven of the Scottish athletes running in endurance events at the World Championships in Oregon have run for Scotland in the London Mini Marathon.

The event will once again be run over the shorter 2.6km course that was introduced last year. This year, however,  it will take place on Saturday – the day before the TCS London Marathon.

scottishathletics are looking to take teams of six athletes in the U17 and U15 age-groups for boys and girls.

Age groupings for this race are:

U17: Born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2007

U15: Born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2009.

Teams will be selected based on recent performances over 1500m and 3000m.

We expect athletes to have achieved the following standards to be considered for selection:

U17 Boys: 1500m – 4:10; 3000m – 9:15

U17 Girls: 1500m – 4:50; 3000m – 10:45

U15 Boys: 1500m – 4:30; 3000m – 10:00

U15 Girls: 1500m – 5:00; 3000m – 11:30

Coaches and parents of athletes who have met those consideration standards, and who are keen to race in London on October 1, should express their interest by email to Mark Nixon: mark.nixon@scottishathletics.org.uk

Please do this by Monday 29 August.
