scottishathletics (with the support of the GAA) are keen to remind athletes and coaches about our Middle Distance Project – which looks to develop athletes over 800m, 1500m and 3000m.
We are planning to send a minibus of athletes and coaches down to the British Miler Club Gold Standard Races (North) at Stretford in Manchester over the summer season in order to foster their progression and development by assisting them to be involved in competition environments of an appropriate level.
The programme is primarily aimed at senior school pupils, further education students and late developing seniors, as well as their coaches.
We have now costed the project but urgently need any expressions of interest for the first meeting – which takes place on Tuesday 6 May.
In order for effective planning, and a decision on possible transport for that first date, would interested athletes and coaches please contact Mark Pollard by 5pm on Monday 28 April. Email email@example.com.
The other dates for the Open Meetings (and we already have some interest for those) are:
The provisional standards for being involved in the project are:
Depending on uptake, coaches and athletes may need to prioritise the dates they would like to attend on to ensure as many athletes as possible are given the opportunity to participate.
Interested athletes (and coaches of these athletes) who have reached these standards should contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
