Lee Valley in London was once again the venue for the British Masters Indoor Championships this weekend.

With many of the athletes now preparing for the European Masters Championships in Torun at the end of March there was some really good competition.

By my calculations, 23 Scottish athletes (through club connection or birth) competed, with a medal tally of 24 (10 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze) across the two days.

Gold medals went to the following:

Stacey Downie (Edinburgh AC) Gold in the 60m in 7.82s, defending her title from last year with her fastest time in four ears which bodes very well for the Europeans.

Stacey regained her 200m indoor title in 25.32s – not far outside the Scottish V35 record.

Ron Todd (Central AC) V60 Gold in the shot (10.33m) and gold in the Pole Vault (3.15m)

Chris Loudon (SVHC) Gold in the V40 1500m in 4:15.11 in a very competitive race, finishing ahead of Portuguese athlete Bruno Lima (4:17.37) and Welshman Oliver Williams (4:17.40)

Kate Blake (Pitreavie) Gold in the V45 long jump (4.24m) and also a bronze in the high jump (1.35m). Kate also qualified for the 60m final by finishing 2nd in H1 (8.74s) and was 5th in that final (8.80s)

Allan Cameron (VPCoG) V50 Gold in the 800m (2:10.82). Allan currently holds both indoor and outdoor 800m titles and will compete in the 800m in Torun in March.

Darren Kerr (SVHC & Bedford) V55 gold in the shot (11.99m)

Claire Cameron (VPCoG) V65 gold in the shot (9.23m)

Allan Leiper (Basingstoke) Former Scotland international decathlete Allan took V65 gold in the shot (13.36m)

Silver medals for the following athletes:

Darryn Steele (Inverclyde) V45 silver in the 60m (7.29s). Darryn was second in H3 to progress to the final, where only former international athlete Dwain Chambers was faster on the day.

Graeme Gemmell (Bellahouston Harriers) V60 silver in the 800m (2:21.42)

Mike Tarnawsky (Dundee Hawkhill) V50 silver in the 200m (24.8s) and bronze in the 60m (7.67s)

James Macgregor (SVHC) V60 high jump silver (1.48m)

Bronze medals:

Amanda Woodrow (Edinburgh AC) V35 800m bronze (2:27.19) and 1500m bronze (5:05.71)

Dougie Graham (Edinburgh AC) V45 pole vault bronze (3.98m)

Stephen Brown (WERR) V45 1500m bronze (4:20.50) in an exciting race with former Commonwealth athlete James Thie taking the win (4:16.67) and Aaron Cooper Brown taking silver (4:19.52)

Glen Kerr (Bedford) V50 shot bronze (11.83m)

Andrew Pringle (SVHC) V60 long jump bronze (4.43m)
