More than 2000 athletes are readying themselves for the scottishathletics District Champs at three venues across the country this weekend.
Following on from a successful Friday evening pilot in Inverness last year, the North District again joins the East and West in offering a two-day programme.
And, while a number of club and league track and field events have already taken place, the District Champs at Inverness, Grangemouth and Kilmarnock will mark the opening of the 2017 season for many athletes in a competitive sense.
It also marks the start of our scottishathletics programme of events – with National Championships coming up over the next few months culminating in a 10-day period at Grangemouth which features the Age Groups on August 19/20 for U20, U15 and U1s athletes and Senior, Para and U17 Champs on August 26/27.
There is a Commonwealth Games element, too, with performances at the District events which reach the qualifying standards deemed permissable (in terms of the level of the event). It is the final opportunity to post standards for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bahamas.
We’re delighted this year to again be able to offer a live Results service online from two of the three District Champs venues.
Those ‘Live Results’ from Grangemouth and Kilmarnock are accessed via the link on our Events page (see Below: Obviously, they only become active once the event has started).
Key info like timetables and start-lists are now on the page for each fixture on our Events Section.

West Districts at Kilmarnock

It is another big weekend for our scottishathletics Officials, of course, as they ‘cover the country’ and help make the events happen at the Districts.
