scottishathletics athlete and coach members are reminded we are seeking replies and feedback to emails on proposed Age Group changes.
Age groups in the UK are changing from 2026 and we need your input to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible for all athletes affected.
Emails were sent out on July 22 and more to specific affected groups on Thursday 1 August. We are looking for replies ahead of a deadline of Monday 5 August.
From April 2026, UK Athletics rules will change the sport’s age groups to under-even (U12, U14 etc.) aligning the UK age groups with the rest of the World.
They will also align the age groups across track and field, road running and cross country to the same dates. Further consultation is now required to discuss with the sport the implementation of this change in Scotland.
A key area for discussion is whether to use age on 31 December or 31 August as the cut-off date for determining an athlete’s age group up to U18. The U20 age group will continue to use the World Athletics cut-off date of 31 December.
Please check your inbox (and/or junk mail) and respond to us. Thanks for your support on this; much appreciated.
