Laura Muir and Josh Kerr have been making headlines across our channels for much of their careers . . . and for most of 2023.
And the closing weeks of December are no different!
Laura opened up her indoor season at the Cardiff Met Meet in Wales and did so in fine style over 3000m.
The multiple medallist clocked 8:34.39 to set a stadium record in Cardiff and that books Laura’s slot for the World Indoors at the Emirates Arena in March.
Josh was named as the Male Athlete of the Year for 2023 last week by the British Athletics Writers Association (BAWA) but was disappointed to miss out on the BBC short-list for the Personality of the Year.
As that particular debate runs and runs, Josh took on the half marathon distance in San Diego prior to a trip back to Britain. His time of 61:51 was a PB by around two minutes and a very strong run (although not necessarily applicable for rankings due to downhill course).
Josh had previously recorded 63:44 in San Diego so the World 1500m champion’s improvement is clear.
🗣️ “It was about 1:55 faster than we ran last year. I have a bit more experience in the event and am obviously feeling a little bit fitter and have some better gear on the feet. It makes a big difference, so we’re happy with it.”
