Dianne Lauder of Gala and Andrew Douglas of Inverclyde are the new Scottish Mid Trail champions.

The pair triumphed over courses of 10k and 15k respectively at Falkland in Fife in the second year of the event.

Dianne won the women’s race from the 2013 winner, Edel Mooney of Lothian Running Club, with Fife’s Megan Crawford picking up the bronze medal.

Andrew had looked pre-race favourite for the men’s race and justified that status with his success as the silver was claimed by Kyle McLellan and the bronze by Patryk Gierjatowicz.

Ronhill Cambuslang had won the inaugural men’s team title with a great presence in the top ten in 2013 and they repeated that victory in 2014 from Gala Harriers and Edinburgh University Hares and Hounds.

Gala were team medallists in the women’s race, too, but had to defer to winners Hunters Bog Trotters and silver medallists Edinburgh AC.

In the U20 section, the Men’s top three were: James Thomas, Alex Luetchford, Fraser Drummond. The Women’s U20 medallists were Emma Dunnett, Annie Carroll and Jennifer Cruickshanks.

Junior championship races were added this year and while numbers were not as high as might have been hoped, there were medallists at U15 and U17 level via combined races. It was a good day for the Ingledew family of Fife AC with a gold and silver for brothers Jamie and Fergus.

The U15 Girls top three were as follows: Emily Nicholson, Rhiannon Kirk, Sophie Nethery.

The U15 Boys top three were as follows: Jamie Ingledew, Tristan Rees, George Rees.

The U17 Girls top three were as follows: Annabel Simpson, Hannah Addison, Ailsa Cruickshanks.

The U17 Boys top three were as follows: Luke Foss, Fergus Ingledew, Sam Fernando.

There were team gold medals for Fife AC (at two age groups) and Pitreavie AAC.
