Everyone at scottishathletics would like to send our best wishes to Jade Nimmo, who announced her retirement from competitive athletics last weekend.
The Falkirk Victoria Harriers/Sale Harriers athlete is the Scottish National Record holder in the Women’s Long Jump after a 6.47 leap back in 2012.
Two years later, Jade competed at Hampden with Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
‘Jumping on the bandwagon . . . all good things do come to an end eventually,’ posted Jade.
‘It’s been 15 years and it is time now to hang up the spikes. It was amazing. ‘

Ten for Thailand! Scots picked for World Champs
The British team head for the World Mountain Champs in Thailand soon – and another Scot has landed a call-up.
Congratulations to Naomi Lang, her family and coach Lewis Walker on selection now for the GB and NI team early next month following the withdrawal through injury of another athlete.
The Carnethy HRC runner (previously Aberdeeen and Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds, has been called in for the up and down race in Thailand.
We make it that’s now 11 Scots in the team for the World Champs! What a superb representation and we could just about ‘claim’ a dozen with Dundee Hawkhill’s resident Welshman, Kris Jones, also in that team.
Great to see and well done all involved.
