Jasmin lands MBE; Sam wins steeplechase gold in Sweden

Saturday 15th June 2024

Scottish ultra runner Jasmin Paris has been recognised in the King’s Honours List.

Jasmim will receive the MBE for services to fell and long distance running following today’s announcement in the Birthday Honours.

It’s a marvellous accolade for the Lothians-based runner who earlier this year famously became the first woman to complete the gruelling Barkley Marathons.

Jasmin was a guest recently for the Athletics Trust Scotland Q and A event in Edinburgh.

Congratulations!

The list also included MBE awar for former Scotland and Ayr Seaforth athlete, Stuart Benson (for work with the RAF).

Scottish athlete Sam Fernando is a European Champion!

The Fife AC runner won the Steeplechase gold at the Sport Virtus European Champs in Sweden. Sam came up with a Season’s best run of 9:53.82 in Upsala.

*On Saturday, Sam added his medal collection with bronze in the 5000m with a time of 15.28. Both his times have been the second fastest of his career in these events.

To add to the Scottish success, Matthew Power of Livingston AC also won sprint medals.

More details when we have them.
