Scotland will send five hill runners to a big event in Italy next month.
We’ve selected teams to compete for Scotland at the hugely-popular Trofeo Vanoni event in Morbegno on Sunday 27 October.
The Trofeo Vanoni is a relay event where runners race over 7.2km with 435m ascent/descent.
Scotland teams
Moray Pryde (Lothian RC); Angus Wright (Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds); Joseph Wright (Deeside Runners)
Catriona MacDonald (Bellahouston Road Runners); Isla Paterson (Gala Harriers).
International teams flock to the town for this traditional Italian race, where runners start in the town centre and climb the hill overlooking the town. The men’s relay has three athletes per team and the women’s two.
Within the selections there is a first Scotland call-up for Moray Pryde of Lothian RC following recent strong performances.
Many congratulations to all the athletes selected for Trofeo Vanoni and to their families, coaches and clubs. Behind every Scotland vest is a story of commitment and dedication to training and competition
