Hazel Crawford starts work in key role as our Head of Development and Participation

scottishathletics are delighted to announce the appointment of Hazel Crawford as our new Head of Development and Participation.

After our recruitment process with strong candidates, Hazel started in the role on Monday 27 October.

Following 20 years working within The Scottish Government in various policy roles, most recently as the Unit Head for Looked After Children: Children’s Residential Care, Hazel brings a huge amount of professional experience from the public sector to scottishathletics.

On a personal level, Hazel is a coach at Musselburgh and District Athletics Club supporting the development of their junior section.

‘We are excited to have Hazel on board as our new Head of Development and Participation,’ said Colin Hutchison, chief executive.

‘This is an exciting appointment for the organisation, with Hazel bringing a fresh outlook to our development work and our Senior Management Team. Hazel’s professional experience working within the public sector will be of huge benefit to the sport and we’re very much looking forward to working with her.’

‘I am delighted to have been appointed as the Head of Development and Participation,’ said Hazel.

‘Having grown up participating in junior club athletics, raising funds for charity through many a sponsored 10k and half-marathons, and now delivering coaching to Musselburgh and District juniors, it is a real privilege to join scottishathletics.

‘I am excited to combine these personal connections to athletics with the skills and experiences I have gained within Government, developing  children and families policy and legislation.

‘I really look forward to working with everyone involved in athletics across Scotland, and beyond, to further develop and grow our fantastic sport.’
