Wednesday 18th March 2015

The Tom Scott Memorial Road Race is always a hugely popular event and once again this year the event on Sunday 5 April has status as the Scottish 10-Mile Champs.

There’s a 6k race as well as the 10-Mile race taking place that day with the Tom Scott starting at 10am on that day with registration at 8.45.

More details and how to enter can be found on our Events section on the specific page. There are only limited places left – so please hurry!

The race organisers are grateful for event sponsorship for 2015 to Hydracrat and there is a website which gives more detail about the long-standing history of the event.

Fiona Matheson won 10,000 track title 2014

The focus moves towards the track in mid-April with the Scottish 10,000m track champs taking place in association with the Glasgow Athletics Association Miler Meet.

Friday 17 April is the date for this event which also comes under the auspices of the British Milers Club.

This format was followed for the 3000m indoor champs in January at the Emirates Arena and proved popular as scottishathletics and the GAA seek to raise standards in endurance running.

Hutchesons Grammar School in Glasgow hosted the 10,000m champs last April as Luke Traynor (Giffnock North) and Fiona Matheson (Falkirk Vics) won the gold medals.

Entry is via the BMC website and there is a link to that on our Events page.

Morag MacLarty and Tewolde Mengisteab: 5K winners 2014 at Silverknowes

Finally, before April closes, there is one more significant Scottish Championship event – with the 5k Road Race taking place on Wednesday 29 April.

The Run and Become Self Transcendence race at Silverknowes, Edinburgh, hosts these championships for Senior and Under 20 athletes.

It is an event which has been growing in the past few years and there are already around 100 entries received for a course which produces a very high number of PB performances each year.

Recent winners include the likes of Ross Hoston, Andrew Butchart and Tewolde Mengisteab and all at scottishathletics continue to seek an improvement in times – both from our elite performers and indeed the ‘rank and file’ membership.

The race starts at 7.30pm and entries can be made via the page on the Events section.
