Report by Adrian Stott
There were fast times at the Highland Fling race as Rowan Boswood (Carnethy) took the win and the Scottish title in the second-fastest time seen on the Fling course.
He led From the start and in perfect conditions, recorded his second victory in the Fling Race.
His time of 6:50:26 has only been bettered by Rob Sinclair’s course record, of 6:41:13.
Robbie Dunlop of Dundee Road Runners, took second in 7:15:24, with Paulius Peciura, Westerlands, coming through strongly on the final stretch to claim third in 7:34:21.
In the women’s race, GB Trail international Elsey Davis, The North Face, who had made the long trip from her home in Cornwall, ran a committed race from the start. She was running the Fling as a key build-up event for the classic Western States 100 in California at the end of June.
Beth Pascall had set the existing record of 7:52:53 in 2026. Davis was ahead of that schedule by the first checkpoint at Drymen (12 miles ) and maintained that effort throughout the race to record 7:37:47, 15 minutes inside Pascall’s time.
She was fifth overall.
Alison McGill of Fife AC took second and the Scottish title in 8:57:26. Ochil Hill Runners athlete Fanni Gyurko took third, and the Scottish silver medal in 9:34:10. Gala Harrier Anya Campbell took the bronze.
