Five Scots named for GB and NI in World Juniors initial selection

Initial World Juniors team announcement from British Athletics

Five young Scots have been named for the GB and NI team for the World Juniors.

British Athletics will send a strong team to Eugene in August for an eagerly-awaited global event.

The full team is not yet selected but a first wave of names features five of our emerging athletes.

It is anticipated that the full team will be announced in a couple of weeks from now.

Heading to the United States for the World Juniors will be:

Women 200m: Sophie Thomas (Dunfermline T and F Club, Agustin Osorio)

Men 800m: Matthew McKenna (Walton AC, Norman Martin) and Josh Mungin (Kilbarchan AAC, John Rodger)

Men 1500m: James Alexander (Garscube Harriers, Alex Chalmers)

Men Discus: Jacob McKinlay (Edinburgh AC, Dougie Cameron)

Many congratulations to the athletes selected and to their families, coaches and clubs on being selected for GB and NI representation at a global event.
