Inverness Harriers athlete and Scotland athlete Jenny Bannerman has confirmed her retirement from competitive racing.

It brings to an end an impressive 28-year career that started while at school and led to Scotland vests and several national championship gold medals under the guidance of her dad and coach Charlie.

Jenny won five Scotland international vests in road running and won no fewer than nine national championship medals.

Her final race was the Scottish 5k Champs at Silverknowes, a fitting finish line in many ways as she was a constant supporter of Scottish National Championship events despite the huge travel and time commitment required to compete.

As a mother and now a W35 athlete, Jenny was part of the Inverness Harriers team who won the Senior Women’s title at the National Road Relays in Livingston in March in a great moment for the club and the four athletes involved.
