Five Scottish athletes will represent GB and NI at the Euro Cross in Belgium next month.

British Athletics announced a 40-strong team for the annual event which is being held in Brussels on Sunday 10 December.

Megan Keith leads the Scots with gold and silver medals in the past two years at the Euro Cross.

Joining her in the GB and NI U23 Women’s team are Eloise Walker and Lynn McKenna after strong performances in the trial race at Liverpool last Saturday.

Angus McMillan, the England-based Scot who runs for City of York, is picked within the six named for the Senior Men’s race.

And, like Angus and Lynn, there is a first GB and NI vest coming up at U20 Men for Andrew McGill of Livingston AC/Glasgow Uni Hare and Hounds.

Scots selected for Brussels – with coach and club . . .

It’s once again a good representation for Scots in terms of the whole GB and NI team when we take population ratio into account.

We send our warm congratulations to all five, and to the whole team. These selections are the reward for many years of hard work and dedication to training and competition and we add our thanks to families, coaches and clubs involved in developing these athletes.

Megan of course won the Senior Women’s trial at Liverpool and could have raced at that level in Brussels.

But, working on the plan with coach Ross Cairns, will aim for the podium again after U20 gold in Dublin two years ago and silver at U23 level in Italy last year.

Lynn McKenna, coached by John Montgomery, is thrilled with selection.

‘This is a dream come true – I am going to the Euro Cross,’ she said on Instagram.

‘Forever grateful for those in my corner, truly the best. Can’t wait to line up with some fast fast ladies in Brussels!’
