Don’t miss out on qualifying for our SUPERteams National Final!

Sunday 4th May 2025

Regional heats for our U12 SUPERteams events will be held at five venues across Scotland this May and June, with clubs encouraged to submit their entries in order to advance to the National Final in Dundee on 21 June.

The regional format aims to encourage as many under 12 athletes as possible to get involved in our sport through offering opportunities to compete in introductory-level competitions locally, whilst retaining a national element as the next step on the competition pathway for this age group.

Events offered include 75m, long jump, turbo javelin and 4x100m relay.

The only way for clubs to qualify for the final is compete in one of the regional heats held throughout Scotland:

Heat 1: Inverness – Saturday 17 May

Heat 2: Ayr – Sunday 18 May

Heat 3: Edinburgh – Saturday 24 May

Heat 4: Cumbernauld – Saturday 24 May

Heat 5: Springburn – Sunday 8 June

Regional Heat Information

  • Entry costs up to £10 per athlete. This is inclusive of the final fee should clubs qualify.
  • Clubs can be represented by any number of athletes in the heats and can choose any of the five heats to attend. However, a single cub can only be represented in ONE heat (ie. clubs cannot send some members to one heat and others to another).
  • During the heats, instead of competing as teams, athletes will compete as individuals in three SUPERteams events. This allows any number of athletes from any club to take part without relying on others to form a full team. Team scores will be calculated from the individual scores on the day.
  • SUPERteams teams in the regional heats will be made up of the four highest-scoring athletes from the same club. Each team will be made up of at least 2 girls and maximum of 2 boys (ie. 2 girls + 2 boys, 3 girls + 1 boy or 4 girls, depending on individual scores).
  • The event will be open to athletes in the U12 age group. In Summer 2024, this means they will have been born in 2014, 2015 or 2016.
  • Athletes will take part in a short sprint, a jump and a throw, with fun non-scoring relays offered for on-the-day teams at the end of each Regional Heat. The individual events offered in each heat are confirmed on the fixture page for each event. The National Final will include 75m, long jump, turbo javelin, and a team 4x100m relay.
  • The top-scoring 8 teams in each regional heat will progress to the National Final. Each club can qualify a maximum of three teams.

This event is individual entry. However, clubs can enter multiple athletes through the club portal if they wish. RJT athletes or non-members may compete in the heats, but these athletes must be fully registered members before the final, if qualifying.

If you have any questions about SUPERteams, please contact the host club of the heat you would like to attend using the contact details on the event fixture page, or events@scottishathletics.org.uk with any general queries.

We hope to see your young members there!
