Spikes on track

Sign-up now for National Club Conference

Our National Club Conference is coming up next month and we would love to see more clubs sign up for learning sessions and the chance to share good practice.

Delegates will gather at the Hilton Hotel on Saturday 9 October for key sessions and a day of learning together from good practice.

We’re really keen to see more clubs represented at the National Club Conference and need you to register your interest by Sunday evening (September 26).

Paula Dunn guided the Paralympics GB track and field team to great success in Japan – and now she is headed for our National Club Conference in October.

And we are delighted to confirm that Paula, a top GB sprinter in the 1990s with England at the Commonwealths and GB and NI at the Olympics, will be our Keynote Speaker.

There will also be presentations on October 9 from Springburn Harriers and Aberdeen AAC as well as Erin Gillen, sportscotland Youth Ambassador.

The programme further includes addresses from Colin Hutchison, our chief executive, and David Ovens, our new Chair, on how they see the coming years for athletics in Scotland.

After her career of the track, Paula Dunn successfully moved to coaching. Her work within the Paralympic movement began in 2009 when she was appointed as Performance manager alongside Head Coach Peter Eriksson.

In 2012 Paula Dunn became Paralympic Head Coach, the first female Head Coach at British Athletics. She has overseen one of the most successful periods in history for Para athletics in Britain. Under her leadership in Rio 2016, the ParalympicsGB team came home with an amazing 33 medals.

With Tokyo being postponed a year, Paula offered incredible support to the ParalympicsGB athletes and despite the many challenges has undoubtedly managed to produce a successful team to represent GB in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Paula’s high standards, values and attitude are key to her approach and the success of the team. We very much look forward to hearing from Paula on October 9.
