Facilities Strategy maps our priorities
scottishathletics launched a new Facilities Strategy during the Festive break with clearly the issue of venues – for training and competition – crucial for our sport for the years ahead.
In that story we mentioned significant progress (since our last document) at five locations at least; namely Meadowbank, Huntershill in Bishopbriggs, the Regional Performance Centre at Dundee, Linwood (indoor area) and the Riverside Sports Arena in Ayr.
And we are pleased to now share a couple of photos from the new facility at Ayr, which is close to completion and already being used by Ayr Seaforth AC.
The new £8.5m venue built by South Ayrshire Council features indoor and outdoor space for athletics with an eight-lane 400m running track, a six-lane 60m indoor running track; and a field events area all set to feature.
When opened, the arena will also feature a 3G all-weather pitch alongside fully accessible changing areas, reception, a café and social area.
