Results from Armagh Road Races

Scotland men and women both came up with second place finishes in the international races in the Armagh Road Races event.

Scott Stirling had a terrific run to take fourth place in 13:45 and lead home our Men’s team – on a night when six Scots broke 14 minutes for the 5k.

Steph Pennycook was our fastest woman with a seventh place finish in the 3k event in a time of 9:19.

And, with three to count in each event, we expect confirmation from the organisers that Scotland were second in both races.

Cambuslang Harriers were second in the men’s club event and third in the women’s on a great night for Scottish athletes with strong performances through the field (and beyond those selected for Scotland).

We understand Scott Stirling’s 13:45 gun time is third equal on the Scottish all-time list (check detail here).

In the team event, Scott was backed up by Angus McMillan at 17 and Finlay Ross-Davie at 19 with both given a gun time of 13:56.

In between those athletes, Ross Gollan had a superb run at 11 in 13:53; Jamie MacKinnon at 14 in 13:55. Completing six Scots inside 14 minutes was Peter Bradshaw at 21 in 13:57. Jamie Burns was at 14:04.

Steph was backed up in the team event by Kirsty Walker at 11 in 9:24 and Stefanie Tucker at 15 in 9:26. Lynn McKenna was at 18 in 9:27.

Well done to everyone who made the trip to Armagh and produced such a strong collective performance.

With thanks to Angela Mudge
