It was a fantastic summer for Scottish athletes over the track and field season – at all points from Hampden to Zurich to Swansea.
And that has been reflected in the nominations lists for a number of awards from respected publication Athletics Weekly.
Lynsey Sharp and Eilidh Child are both candidates for the ‘Female Athlete of the Year’ title and Lynsey has a second nomination in Athletics Weekly’s ‘Moment of the Year’ category following her dramatic silver medal run in the Commonwealth Games.
But what about our Para athletes? There are no fewer than four Scots listed in the 10 nominations for ‘Para Athlete of the Year’ award. Commonwealth gold medallist Libby Clegg is listed alongside IPC European gold medallists Jo Butterfield, Sammi Kinghorn and Maria Lyle. That really is a great representation for Scottish Para athletes.
So, why not vote for a Scot on the Athletics Weekly lists, which also include international categories.
The lists are online on the Athletics Weekly website. The closing date for voting is November 28.
