SDS Awards: Melanie and Steve win top titles for 2026

Melanie Woods has been named Athlete of the Year by Scottish Disability Sport.

The double Commonwealth Games gold medallist was recognised for her superb 2026 by SDS via their Findlay Calder Trophy.

And Para athletics in Scotland was well-represented in other categories, too.

Steve Doig took the Fife Trophy as SDS Performance Coach of the Year winner.

Steve coaches Commonwealth Games medallists Ben Sandilands and Steve Bryce, who won gold and brzone in the same T20 1500m race at Scotstoun.

There was a Special Recognition Award for our own Pamela Robson, scottishathletics Paralympic Pathway Manager, as a ‘Thank You’ for her unwavering commitment to helping develop Para sport in Scotland.

Wheelchair racer Joanna Robertson, who made her Team Scotland debut at Glasgow 2026, was one of two recipients of a Russell Hogg Bursary via the SDS awards.
