Josh and Jake set for Ultimate World Champs and duo head for New York

Top Scots will compete in Europe and America this weekend in two high profile events.

The Ultimate World Champs debut over three days from Hungary with elite track and field athletes chasing a reputed $10 million in prize money.

BBC Sport will have coverage and to say the Men’s 1500m on Sunday evening is eagerly-awaited may be an understatement.

In a stellar cast-list, Josh Kerr and Jake Wightman will carry Scottish and British hopes against the likes of Cole Hocker, Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Cameron Myers.

World Record holder Josh is looking to add another global success in a year which already includes World Indoors gold and the Commonwealth Games title at Scotstoun.

Speaking to World Athletics, Josh said: ‘I’m excited to race the 1500m at the Ultimate Championship.

‘I’ve made some choices this season that have created plenty of noise, but I’ve always wanted to prove myself in the biggest races, against the best in the world. Budapest gives me another opportunity to do that, and I’m coming to compete for the win.’

Meanwhile, in the United States, the Fifth Avenue Mile always commands attention on both sides of the Atlantic.

Jemma Reekie and Sarah Calvert will have high hopes for the Women’s race.

Jemma ran a European Record for road mile in Germany last weekend while Sarah is preparing for GB and NI representation next weekend in the World Road Running Champs.
