There was a fantastic performance for Callum Newby (Edinburgh AC) in California overnight as he set a new Scottish Record in the Decathlon, posting a score of 7867.
This surpasses the previous record (7739), held by Jamie Quarry since 1999.
It also meets the Team Scotland qualifying standard for this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Callum’s outstanding performance featured PBs in the 100m (10.96), Long Jump (7.46), High Jump (2.01), 400m (48.63), 110m Hurdles (14.50), Discus (40.15) and Javelin (49.09) along the way.
The Scot is proving to be in fine form, having previously broken the Scottish Heptathlon record at our 4J Indoor Combined Events Championships last month.
Congratulations to Callum, his coaching and support team, his family and all at Edinburgh AC.
