Athletes relish U18 Champs action and medal moments

Start-lists (becomes Live Results)

Teenage athletes gathered for the first of our U18 Scottish Championship events following on from age group changes.

The dedication of these young athletes doesn’t change, of course, and nor does the commitment of their volunteer coaches helping to guide their journey in the sport.

Personal Bests, final place and Scottish National medal moments were the targets at the Emirates and full details of the U18 podiums are listed below (with thanks to Arnold Black of the scotstats site).

Springburn Harrier Douglas Knox had an excellent day as he won the Long Jump with 7.06m PB and also took gold in the 60m Hurdles. Douglas was third in the Pole Vault as Nathan Mobbs took the victory.

Whitemoss athlete Emma Clark won the Women’s 60m and 200m sprint double with 7.55 and 24.43 performances.

Kilmarnock athlete Cara Monachello posted Scottish U18 Records in the 60m Hurdles. After 8.69 in the heats, Cara improved to 8.61 to win gold. Kilmarnock had another gold medallist in the Men’s shot via Rhian Mitchell‘s 17.64m throw.
