Our Kebba wins Community Champion Award from the Glasgow Tie

Saturday 20th December 2025

We are delighted to congratulate Kebba Sanneh, Local Community Impact Leader, on being named Youth Community Champion of the Year at the Glasgow Times Community Champion Awards.

Over the past year, Kebba’s journey has seen him progress from volunteering and taking part in activities at his local sport and youth work organisation, Scottish Sports Futures, to securing employment within the Community Impact Team at scottishathletics. His development reflects his commitment and dedication to his community.

In his current role, Kebba focuses on building strong, trusted relationships within local communities, supporting the growth of athletics and recreational running in areas where opportunities have traditionally been limited.

His work in the East End of Glasgow has been instrumental in helping bridge the gap between community-based activity and club sport, creating more accessible and inclusive pathways for people to get involved in physical activity through athletics and running.

A key highlight of Kebba’s work has been the delivery of ‘Mini Commonwealth Games’ events for young people. Designed to introduce athletics in a fun, engaging, and welcoming way, the events have proven hugely popular, with participants eagerly asking when the next games will take place.

Kebba’s enthusiasm, energy, and kindness are evident through his weekly community sessions, where he continues to build strong and positive relationships with young people.

Our National Community Impact Manager, Stephanie McLean, praised Kebba’s contributions to the East End Communities:

‘It’s fantastic to see Kebba being recognised for the amazing work he continues to do weekly in the East End Communities,’ said Steph.

‘He is inspiring more young people than he realises and is playing a vital role in growing opportunities for young people to be physical active in their local community.

‘I’m excited to see how Kebba grows within this role and continues to build on the impact he’s already having!’

We are incredibly proud of the impact Kebba continues to make, consistently showing up for communities that are often under-represented in sport and physical activity.

Congratulations, Kebba, and thank you for transforming young lives through sport.
