British Fell and Hill Relay Championships, Dinas Mawddwy, Powys. Saturday 18 October

Carnethy HRC men delivered a brilliant performance to win this year’s UKA Fell and Hill Running Championships.

After just missing out on the win on numerous occasions in recent years Carnethy’s secret weapon, GB and NI international Matt Knowles (who joined after graduating) led the team to victory opening up a bigger gap on Ambleside AC on the final leg.

Fin Lydon on the solo leg one finished a solid fifth, passing onto Finlay Todd and Eddie Narbett who gained three places to finish second and hand over to Sasha Chepelin and Ali Masson for the navigation leg.

The Carnethy duo then gained one place to take the lead and leaving Matt to bring home the win in 2:57:57.

Congratulations to the team and the club as a whole!

In the men’s open race Highland Hill Runners finished an excellent sixth for their long journey south. Carnethy B team were eighth and Edinburgh Uni Hares and Hounds took 12th.
