The WMRA World Cup series continues this weekend in Italy at the Nasego VK and Trofeo Nasego – with Scotland in action.

Event organisers have invited teams from England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales to compete in a Six Nations match.

Results for this are scored for three male and three female performances in both the VK and classic events.

Eight Scottish athletes have been selected and Isla Paterson and Thomas Hilton only race in the VK and will gain invaluable experience of racing in the continent. The other athletes will compete in both events.

Scotland Women:

Scout Adkin (Moorfoot Runners); Kirsty Dickson (Carnethy HRC); Catriona MacDonald (Bellahouston Road Runners); U20 Isla Paterson (Gala Harriers)

Scotland Men:

Ewan Brown (Corstorphine AAC); Ross Gollan (East Sutherland); Robbie Simpson (Deeside Runners); U20 Thomas Hilton (Moorfoot Runners)

The VK is 4.2k with 1000m of climb, the gradient getting steeper as the race progresses.

On Sunday the men and women race together over the classic up and down Trofeo Nasego, over 21km and 1700m.

Scout Adkin won the first World Cup in Romania at the beginning of May and will hope to improve on her fourth place here last year.
