Linwood ready for 4J National Opener – and Mixed Relays

Thursday 24th April 2025

Linwood info

The summer track and field season is out of the blocks!

And we are looking forward to staging a new event for 2025 – the 4J National Opener – at Linwood on Saturday.

The event is geared for Senior and U20 athletes with some U18 opportunities, too.

More than 200 athletes have entered for the event which has been scheduled as an early season chance to compete as we move the District Championships to being for younger athletes – across the U17, U15 and U13 age groups.

Adding another feature to Linwood are Mixed Relays across 4x400m and 4x100m. These will be run according to World Athletics guidelines (in terms of running order) and teams were invited to enter even if not all the athletes are from the same club.

We will take Mixed Relays entries on the day on Saturday at £11 per team (payable by card, please).

The event is included in the programme for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and is becoming established at World and European events so great to get the ball rolling here on competitive opportunities for Scottish athletes.

Register to attend

As is the case for our track and field events, we ask those planning to attend to register in advance where possible (this saves queues on the day).

Athletes are free and so are scottishathletics licensed coaches.

It is £4 for the online admission registration. It will be £6 for card payments on the day (no cash, please).

Thanks for your support on this with venue costs having been on the rise over the past couple of years as we seek to deliver Championship and opportunities like the 4J National Opener at Linwood.

As always on these occasions, we say thank you in advance to our qualified scottishathletics Officials as we deliver events across for a busy summer season with their marvellous support. Thanks also to those at Linwood and Kilbarchan AAC.
