The Scottish 5k Champs has a great reputation for fast time and the 2024 edition was no different.

We’ve now allocated Road Race Grand Prix shares from performances by no fewer than 11 athletes on the night in Edinburgh.

Gold medallists Steph Pennycook and Scott Stirling led the way and the doctor duo and nine others are all in for a slice of the overall £4000 pot via their runs last Friday night.

Seven of those 11 were in the Women’s division.

Working with chip times, we allocated shares thus:

A Standards for Steph Pennycook 15:52; Morag Millar 16:07; Stefanie Tucker 16:15; Jenny Selman 16:18

B Standards for Natasha Phillips 16:20, Kirsty Walker 16:29; Millie McClelland-Brooks 16:32

In the Men’s division, we allocated shares thus:

B Standards for Scott Stirling 14:17, Finlay Ross-Davie 14:25, Ben Sandilands 14:25, Lewis Hannigan 14:26

Well done to all those getting inside the required times to land shares in the Road Race GP.

With deep disappointment, we can confirm that the Scotland international opportunity in Belfast this summer over 5k and one mile is not happening.

We understand the event was reliant on financial support which then fell through.

As luck would have it, following the Scottish 5k Champs last Friday night:

*On Monday we selected Scotland teams at 5k

*On Tuesday we informed those athletes picked

*On Wednesday morning the event organisers announced it would not take place in 2024.

Apologies to all the athletes (and their families, coaches and clubs) that this opportunity has not materialised.

There has been some terrfic coverage of the event across our channels (even if we say so ourselves!!).

And delighted to promote more now with thanks to the Sri Chinmoy team (led by race ograniser Adrian Stott) and Hidden Bothy.
