British Cross Challenge Series

Scott Stirling is celebrating cross country success by becoming the first Scot to win the British Cross Challenge Series at Senior level.

And it was a nice one-two for athletics in Scotland with the Falkirk Victoria Harriers leading the Men’s division standings (with 207 points to 198) from Jamie Crowe of Central AC. York-based Scotland international, Angus McMillan, was fifth.

We understand no Scottish athlete has won the Series before at Senior level with Steph Twell a winner prior to her eligibility being cleared.

The 2023-24 British Cross Challenge saw lots of other high places, too, with Kilbarchan AAC’s Zara Redmond winning the U17 Women category.

Top five places for Scots . . .

Senior Men: 1 Scott Stirling; 2 Jamie Crowe; 5 Angus McMillan

U20 Men: 2 Logan Beagley

U17 Men: 2 Alasdair Nugent; 3 James Alexander

U15 Boys: 3 Calum Dick; 5 Alastair Street

U13 Boys: 2 Sam Deery; 3 Kian Dick

Senior Women: 5 Alice Goodall

U20 Women: 2 Natasha Phillips ; 5 Millie McClelland-Brooks

U17 Women: 1 Zara Redmond; 3 Jessica Inglis; 4 Ruth Walsh
