Laura Muir‘s big smile only seconds after crossing the finishing line in Zurich said it all.
The Scot completed a marvellous Diamond League win over 800m in Zurich only a week or so after the World Champs.
Sixth in the 1500m final in Budapest, Laura raced impressively in Switzerland with a powerful second lap to win in 1:57.71. Australian Catriona Bissett was home in second, back at 1:58.77.
Now Laura will have her sights set on the Diamond League final over 1500m.
‘It was a competitive field, yes, but I felt if I ran it really well then I could win and happily that happened,’ said Laura.
It was a second place in the Men’s 1500m for Josh Kerr in a tight finish in Zurich.
The World champion took the race on after the pace-makers dropped out and looked to have it won until a last-ditch lunge from American Yared Nuguse.
And Nuguse duly won it by two hundredths with his time at 3:30.49 as Josh clocked 3:30.51 in a fast race which featured no fewer than 10 finalists from Budapest (across the 1500m and the 5000m).

Samantha Kinghorn savoured the victory in the 15090m Wheelchair race in Zurich,
‘I think I exceeded my own expectations for that race,’ the multiple Para World Champs medallist told us, with road races next on the agenda including the Big Half this coming weekend.
