Celtic Nations XC is off; Monument Mile Classic sold out – next August

scottishathletics regrets to confirm that there will be no Celtic Nations Cross Country event early in 2023.

It is understood that for this season no host nation could be found for the annual event, which usually offers international vest opportunities at U23, U20 and U17 level.

Now we regret to confirm there is no date/venue available and the 2023 version of these races will not take place.

It is very much hoped this event will return to the cross country calendar in 2024 – and indeed Scotland are due to host. scottishathletics will progress plans in that regard to bring the event back after a one-year absence.

The main focus of the cross country season for Scottish athletes should now be the Inter-Districts (and British Cross Challenge) in Perth in January, the Lindsays National XC at Falkirk in February and then the Inter-Counties and British Cross Challenge final in March.

There’s good news in track and field with the highly popular Monument Mile Classic meet in Stirling already sold out.

All 360 places have gone for the event which has moved from a regular May slot on a Friday evening to Saturday 26 August.

Entry prices were frozen for adults (and cut for younger athletes) as organisers Central AC, led by Event Director Michael Wright, prepare for the sixth edition of this highly popular meet.

The Monument Mile Classic benefits from strong sponsorship support and would like to thank Insite Contracts Limited, IPME and GSS Developments for their backing.

Organisers have confirmed the following prize structure for the Monument Mile Classis on August 26:

*1st Place in Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s Races: £400

*2nd Place in Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s Races: £200

*3rd Place in Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s Race: £100
