Results from Swansea

Scotland competed at the U20 Welsh International in Swansea on Wednesday evening – and performed with distinction both individually and collectively.

The match provided an excellent development opportunity for these young athletes, with some U17s give the chance as well as the main group at U20 level.

Scotland rounded off the action with victories in the Men’s 4x100m Relay and then the Mixed 4x400m Relay and that simply set the seal on a series of excellent performances.

We make it no fewer than nine other individual event wins and the overall picture also included PBs and stadium records and age group stadium records in Swansea.

The conditions in Wales were good, if a little breezy at times, and Scotland won the double in the ambulant events over 100m (thanks to Cameron Thores and Freya Howgate) and the double in the 3000m races (thanks to Hannah Ryding and Corey Campbell).

Ben Sandilands followed up his Senior Scottish 1500m title win at Aberdeen with a very impressive victory at 800m with a PB and Dean Patterson’s 21.26 run at 200m was a PB and within a couple of hundredths of a second of the Scottish U17 Record.

On the Women’s side, there were also event wins for Meghan Porterfield in the discus and Rachel Callan in the 400m Hurdles.

On the Men’s side, there was also an event win for high jumper Cameron Forbes.
