GB and NI team selection for Germany

Young sprinter Alyson Bell will compete at international level this weekend for GB and NI.

The U20 athlete from Giffnock North AC is expected to feature in the individual 100m and the 4x100m Relay at the Mannheim International in Germany.

It reflects strong performances by Alyson so far this season including the Scottish U20 Record at 100m at the Loughborough International while representing Scotland.

Well done to Alyson and coach, Billy Glasgow, as well as Anne Scott who has been helping out with Alyson now based in Edinburgh for Uni.

Good luck to our seven young Scots set to represent GB and NI at the European U18 Championships.

The event starts on Monday and runs through to next Thursday and British Athletics have selected a team of 40 athletes to travel to Israel.

Seven Scottish teenagers will be competing and we wish them all, and their families, coaches and clubs, all the very best for the competition in Jerusalem.

Here are the seven Scots picked . . .

Corey Campbell (Team East Lothian) 1500m: Alister Russell

Rebecca Grieve (Pitreavie AAC) Medley relay: Francis Smith

Tendai Nyabadza (Harmeny AC) 1500m: Andrew Ross

Oliver Patton (Kilbarchan AAC) 2000m Steeplechase: Robert Hawkins

Dean Patterson (Glasgow School of Sport) 200m and Medley Relay: Norrie Hay

Libby White (Ayr Seaforth) Triple Jump: David Watson

Paige Stevens (Falkirk Victoria Harriers) Shot Put: Alison Grey

On the team staff for Israel, our own Allan Scott is part of the GB party and will benefit from an important professional development opportunity.
