BUCS team announcement for Portugal

Scotland’s Megan Keith will represent British Unis at the FISU World University Cross Country Champs this weekend.

The event is being held in Aveiro in Portugal on Saturday and the Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds/Inverness Harriers athlete earned her place in a 12-strong team after finishing third at the BUCS Champs in Middlesex in February.

Megan, of course, heads to Portugal with significant international experience including that superb Euro Cross Women’s U20 title win in Dublin in December.

Mark Nixon, recently appointed as our new Endurance manager, will be part of the BUCS team staff for Portugal.

Three Scottish throwers will compete at the European Throwing Cup this weekend.

The event takes place in Leiria, Portugal, and the GB and NI team will feature 12 athletes across the discipline and including Seniors and U23 athletes.

Joining them will be Kirsty Law and Nick Percy in the discus and Chris Bennett in the hammer.

The event is viewed as ideal preparation for the summer and opportunity to post qualifying distances for World, European and Commonwealth events.

All at scottishathletics send our warm congratulations to the three athletes selected and their families, coaches, support teams and the clubs who developed them in the sport at an early age. We wish them well for this weekend.
