The Emirates Arena should be a busy place again this weekend as the 4J Indoor Season continues to pick up pace.

scottishathletics were delighted to deliver the 4J Seniors and U17s last weekend as championship action indoors returned after a two-year absence.

Now, this weekend, the timetable will feature no fewer than three different Championship events across Saturday and Sunday.

The 4J Combined Events Champs programme is over the two days with the 4J National Club Relays event taking place on Saturday. Then, come Sunday, there’s a programme of races in the 4J Masters 3000m Champs.

Thanks for the support of these events from athletes, coaches and clubs with the entry numbers reflecting the enthusiasm to return to competition.

Thanks, too, in advance to our dedicated team of scottishathletics qualified Officials for making these meetings happen.

The timetable further features invitation races (following on from the Covid-19 restrictions on non-laned races).

The 4J Masters 3000m Champs looks full of potential for fast times given some of the names of the athletes listed – including Darrell Hastie, Mark Nixon, Grant Baillie, Guy Bracken, Alastair Walker, Lesley Bell, Ana Richardson and Fiona Matheson, to name but a few.

Notes around our Invitation races:

These events are staged with the following principles in mind:

*Athletes close to achieving CWG standards;

*Athletes preparing towards the DNA International;

*Athletes preparing towards UKA Indoor Championships / World Indoor Trials (in Birmingham on 26/27 February); impacted on by Covid regulations and therefore missed competition opportunities in January

*Additional athletes may also be included at the discretion the Performance Team, if it is felt they will contribute to the competitive element of the event.
