UK Coaching – Women’s Coaching Programme

Scottish coach Linda Smith is one of a select number of coaches joining a special programme run by UK Coaching.

Linda is involved in coaching endurance athletes at Lasswade AAC and was named as our Club Coach of the Year back in 2018 alongside her husband Kirk

Now UK Coaching have revealed those onto the Women’s Coaching Programme, with only three from athletics across Britain involved.

The programme offers support to female coaches aspiring to progress within their sport performance pathway. In total, 20 coaches from 13 sports have been welcomed onto the four-month programme running from December 2021 to March 2022.

Well done to Linda and good luck with the learning.

scottishathletics are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Marie Dobson.

Marie was a jogscotland jog leader with Newmachar Running Group – NRG- Jog Scotland, and was our Jog Leader of the Year in 2019. She was also a National championship medallist in the past and competed primarily with Aberdeen AAC.

Marie was an absolute force for good, full of energy and enthusiasm. At the time she won our award, the cancer she was fighting meant she was no longer able to run with her group – but they bought her an electric scooter and she would still lead the group riding alongside them.

Marie was full of positivity and joy and we know that all her friends at NRG and beyond will miss her terribly. We’re proud to have had her as part of the jogscotland community.

Our thoughts are with all Marie’s family and friends.

A celebration of Marie’s life will take place at Baldarroch Crematorium, Crathes on Wednesday 22 December at 2.30pm. There is a live link available on her Run4Marie Facebook Page for those wishing to watch remotely.
