Josh wins BAWA top award; Monument Mile will be Student champs

Josh Kerr has landed another prestigious accolade to mark his 2021 – as he was named British Male Athlete of the Year by the British Athletics Writers Association.

The Edinburgh AC athlete won bronze at the Olympics in the Men’s 1500m final in the summer and can’t wait for what looks like a thrilling 2022.

‘I had a fantastic time in Tokyo grabbing that Olympic medal,’ said Josh. ‘So this award means a lot to me, my family and my support team. I will hopefully make next year a great year, too.

Keely Hodgkinson won the British Women’s title from BAWA.

The Monument Mile Classic is coming back for a fifth year on Friday 20 May 2022.

Even in a relatively short ‘lifetime’ the event has become hugely popular and the two most recent versions in September 2020 and then May 2021 saw it continue to grow and develop.

Once again, Central AC, in partnership with the University of Stirling, will deliver an electric evening of open graded track mile races set in the shadow of the iconic Wallace Monument, and against the backdrop of the stunning Stirling University campus.

And in another positive move, the race will now host a Scottish Student Sport mile championships both for individuals and for teams.
