British Athletics website announcement
British Athletics have named a strong GB and NI Juniors team for the Loughborough International this Sunday,
And there was exciting news for three young Scots as they were selected for the first time to compete at this level.
*Jack Patton of Kilbarchan AAC and coached by Robert Hawkins is picked for the 3000m
*Alyson Bell of Giffnock North AC and coached by Billy Glasgow is picked for the 4x100m relay
*Brodie Young of Airdrie Harriers and coached by James McMenemy is picked for the 4x400m relay
Well done to these athletes and their families, coaches and clubs.
It’s always exciting to see young Scottish athletes developing in the sport and that comes via our clubs – we’re checking with Airdrie Harriers as very much aware this is a rare moment for that particular club.
With both the European and World Athletics U20 Championships taking place this summer, the Loughborough International provides an excellent opportunity for athletes to gain valuable experience in a competitive environment in the British vest.
