It’s a good time for us to wish good luck to hammer thrower Chris Bennett ahead of another international appearance this weekend.

Chris is part of a small GB and NI team headed for the European Throwing Cup in Croatia.

Bennett, who is coached by Andy Frost, joins fellow hammer thrower Taylor Campbell and Scott Lincoln in the team for Split to compete over this weekend at an event which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary.

Earlier this month at the scottishathletics 4J Studios Spring Throws Invitational Meet, Chris came up with his best throw since 2017 with an effort of 75.69m. For Chris, who competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, it was the third furthest throw of his career.

Sprinter Adam Clayton has been making progress since a move to the United States a couple of years ago after emerging at Giffnock North AC.

So it was great to see news from across the Atlantic that he had broken a university record for the 200m at Loyola, albeit with a windy time.  Adam clocked 20.92 and also had a 10.47 run in the 100m that was also windy.

America-based Scot, Nicole Yeargin, is another sprinter in form with her latest 400m run taking her sub 52 seconds with a 51.99 performance in California. That takes Nicole to seventh on the Scottish all-time list.
