4J Studios Together-Apart Districts will start our track and field season

Monday 15th March 2021

Key info on our Event section pages

scottishathletics have been making plans for the 2021 track and field season coming up this summer – and we will adopt an innovative approach to hopefully ensure events happen.

The traditional District Champs and National Open events will not now take place with travel restrictions and other significant Covid-19 issues (in terms of numbers and also potential availability of facilities) being taken into account.

Instead, we are setting up the ‘4J Studios Together-Apart Districts’ to take place via smaller, localised events during the month of May.

These events will be open to everyone from the U13 age group through to U20s, Seniors and Masters and performances. District leaderboards will display results for athletes in the U13, U15 and U17 age groups. U20 and Senior results will be added to national leaderboards.

The Together-Apart format aims to allow athletes and clubs to compete locally whilst travel restrictions or other factors may prevent them from attending a singular national event or even district events across different local authority areas.

Athletes will see their results on a district or national leaderboard alongside other athletes from other Scottish clubs, and clubs taking part will be supported with planning and delivering events at their local facilities.

The 4J Studios Together-Apart Districts will run for a full month from Saturday 1 May to Monday 31 May inclusive.

Clubs may host their event(s) during any week of the competition but all results must be submitted by the Tuesday of the week following the event to be uploaded in that week’s results (i.e. results from May 8 to be submitted by 12 noon on Tuesday 11 May).

Age groups will be determined by UKA age group dates for the 2020-21 Track and Field competition year. Masters will compete as Seniors (as is usual in the District events).

Clubs may offer any events suited to their membership and facilities as part of the 4J Studios Together-Apart Districts, and can offer them as often as they wish throughout the month.

Events that will be included in the 4J Studios Together-Apart Districts are:

Track: Sprint Hurdles (as appropriate to age group), 100m, 200m, 300m or 300mH (U15 + U17W), 400m or 400mH (U17M, U20 +Sen), 800m, 1500m, 3000m

Field: Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, Shot Put, Javelin, Discus, Hammer

More information about taking part in the Together-Apart Districts, or about hosting an event at your club, can be found on the dedicated fixture listing on our Event section

*PLEASE NOTE: We are also planning a 4J Studios Virtual SUPERteams event throughout May for clubs to get involved in.

This will be for U12 athletes and we do hope to hold a physical SUPERteams ‘actual event’ a little bit later into the summer.
