PROVISIONAL RESULTS (see download on right of page)

The Lindsays Virtual Road Challenge proved hugely popular with athletes across the length and breadth of Scotland over last weekend.

More than 1000 performances were logged for our 3k runs for the older age groups with younger athletes taking on shorter distances.

It was good to see clubs engaging in the Virtual Road Challenge with track performances and organised group runs now permitted.

And, in due course, we hope a number of the performances will count as qualification to the Lindsays Short Course XC which are still planned for the weekend of December 5/6 (venue TBC).

Just as encouraging as the large overall numbers was the depth of quality involved.

In the 3k bracket, there were 1201 performances at 9 minutes 30 or quicker and 33 of those were 8.45 or quicker from our leading male athletes.

Lindsays National XC gold and silver medallists, Jamie Crowe (Central AC) and Jonny Glen (Inverclyde AC), led the way again with both coming in timed at 8:15 at the top of our leaderboard.

James Donald of Dundee Hawkhill was third at 8:19 and making up the top six were three Central AC athletes Aidan Thompson, Alastair Hay and Ben Macmillan – all at 8:20. That run gave Ben the best U20 male performance.

The women’s division was led by Rebecca Johnson of Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds at 9:29 followed by Megan Keith (Inverness Harriers) at 9:30 and Sarah Calvert (Livingston) at 9:32 and Annabel Simpson (Fife AC) at 9:36.

Making up the top six were Naomi Lang (Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds) and Jenny Selman (Fife AC) – both at 9:40. Megan’s 9:30 run took her top of the Women’s U20 division.

In the Masters categories, there were leading times as follows: M50 Stephen Allen (Motherwell AC) at 9:32 and W50 Ana Richardson (West End Road Runners) at 11:41; M60 Alastair Walker (Teviotdale Harriers) 10:12 and W60 Jennie Jackson (Irvine RC) at 12:53.

Please note that place details in other age groups like U20, U17 and U15 and Masters categories are all detailed within the provisional result (see link at top of this story)

At U17 level, the leading times were delivered by Andrew Thomson (PH Racing) at 8:46 and Hannah Ryding (Giffnock North AC) at 10:02.

At U15 level, the leading times were delivered by Connor Bell (Central AC) at 8:50 and Freya Murdoch (Stockport) at 10:25.

In the younger age groups it was great to see almost 300 athletes take part at U11 and U13 level.

At U13 level, the top five fastest times over the 1.5k distance saw representation for Giffnock North AC, Garscube Harriers, Gala Harriers and Falkirk Victoria Harriers.

AT U11 level, the top five fastest times over the 1k distance saw representation for Inverness Harriers, Springburn Harriers, Haddington RC and Giffnock North AC.

We’d like to thank all our runners and indeed club folk, parents and family who helped with these performances.
