Silverknowes 5k is Off; Junior Hill Races on Sunday

Plans to stage the Run and Become Invitational 5k at Silverknowes in Edinburgh on Friday 4 September have reluctantly been shelved – with organisers unable to secure the necessary clearance for a ‘gathering’ in a public space.

However, race organiser Adrian Stott has not closed the door on a 5k race with ‘wave’ starts.

It is hoped this might be able to take place on a Friday evening later in September. Various venues are being looked at and site visits undertaken.

All at scottishathletics understand the frustration for our road running community but want to publicly thank Adrian for his continued efforts to try and make this event happen.

It is still very much hoped it could be a pilot event which provides the template for road races (on a reduced scale, certainly initially) in Scotland over the coming months.
