Scottish and British champions last year – but Kirsty Law and Nick Percy face big tests in Manchester (photos by Bobby Gavin)
Top Scottish throwers Kirsty Law and Nick Percy are set to compete at the Muller British Champs next month.
But each faces a huge challenge to try and retain the titles they won at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham last year when they line up in Manchester on September 4/5.
Percy and Law are among the latest Scottish athletes confirmed for the event with previous names including the likes of Jake Wightman, Eilish McColgan, Allan Smith and Para duo Maria Lyle and Sammi Kinghorn.
In the men’s discus, 2019 gold medallist Nick will face a strong field including Lawrence Okoyo, who currently leads the 2020 UK rankings after a throw of 65.15 metres last month.
In the women’s equivalent, Kirsty’s aspirations to retain her British crown are under threat from current UK lead Jade Lally.
The format and shape of the competition and guidelines that will be adhered to for competitors and those helping to stage the Championships will be subject to the government guidelines in place.
*The Müller British Athletics Championships will be broadcast live on Friday night on BBC2, 6pm to 9pm and Saturday afternoon on BBC1, 1.15pm to 4.30pm.
