Scotland selections for London Mini Marathon

Scotland are planning to send teams to the London Mini Marathon later this year – with the main London Marathon event now rescheduled for Sunday 4 October.

And scottishathletics are delighted to announce selections for teams of six across the U17 and U15 age groups set to race in the autumn.

It means two dozen young Scots from no fewer than 14 over our clubs from across the length and breadth of Scotland – from Gala Harriers and Teviotdale Harriers in the south to Inverness Harriers in the north – will have the opportunity to savour a great international experience in London.

Congratulations to those athletes selected and to their families and coaches as well as the clubs involved in the development of these teenagers over recent years.

We should stress at this juncture that the teams have been selected on the proviso of the original Mini Marathon event taking place on October 4 and with the same age brackets in place (we are awaiting final clarification on this).

Giffnock North AC have five athletes involved this year via the selections of Reuben Macdonald, Hannah Ryding, Valencia Wright, Julia Cash and Zoe Flower.

And it is a great selection, too, for Fife AC’s burgeoning youth section – with one athlete in each of the four different teams via the picks for Struan Bennet, Isla Thoms, Ben Sandilands and Anna Hedley.

At U17 level, the teams are led by the national champions from the Tru Wealth Young Athletes Road Races at Greenock – Hannah Anderson of East Kilbride AC and Jack Patton of Kilbarchan AAC.
