England Athletics CE Champs – Day One report
Scottish success in the Combined Events sphere has been a familiar story on these pages over the past two or three years.
And the England Athletics Indoor CE Champs for 2020 didn’t disappoint in that regard, either.
Far from it, in fact, with once again Scots beating a path to the podium and in the cases of Andrew Murphy and Scott Brindley making it right to the top!
GB international Murphy won the Senior Men’s podium with 5606 points. Andrew’s second day performances include a 60m hurdles PB of 8.31 and a pole vault clearance of 4.93m.
Many congratulations to the Kilbarchan AAC athlete and his family and coach, Colin Sinclair.

North Ayrshire AC athlete Scott won the U20 title gold with a tally of 5357 points (very close to the Scottish U20 record).
Scott’s performances on Sunday included a superb 2.00m high jump PB and a 8.27 PB in the 60m hurdles. He had previously set PBs in the 60m and the shot.
Callum Newby of Edinburgh AC took the U20 silver medal with a points tally of 5224 – an overall PB for Callum.
Well done to Scott and Callum and their families and coaches.
Scott Connal was fourth in the U23 category in the Senior event and Cal McLennan was sixth U23. Adam Hoole of Team East lothian was 10th in the U20 Men’s event.
In the U20 Women’s Pentathlon, there was a seventh place finish for Nicole Proudfoot of Annan and District AC.
Well done to all the folk involved in this with Scottish CE community once again making a big impact in England.
